As Hurricane Matthew is hovering over SW Haiti we ask that you pray for the children we support and all the people of Haiti. We are receiving reports of significant damage to property even in the early stages of the storm. Our children are huddled in concrete buildings on high ground at our headquarters location at Cambry near Les Cayes, Haiti’s third largest city, which is where the brunt of the storm is being felt. Since we believe that our Cambry headquarters is one of the safest sites in the area we have brought the children from our Darivarger orphanage and three others to Cambry. As of now we have approx 700 children sheltering there in our dormitories, school and guest house (all concrete buildings) who made it safely through the night last night.
Once the storm moves north and off the island of Haiti, our Haitian partners at El Shaddai Ministries International (ESMI) will be assessing the damage and communicating their greatest needs so that we can move quickly to provide whatever help we can. As we await reaching that point over the next 24 hours we ask that you prayerfully consider whether you can help us prepare for that financially. Any support you can offer will be greatly appreciated and can be made here via PayPal.
